Timothy A. Crockett, CPA, MST

Tim Crockett has worked in public accounting for over 25 years helping a variety of businesses achieve their goals including real estate partnerships, high net-worth individuals and troubled companies. He specializes in tax planning, research and compliance work associated with the preparation of limited liability corporations, partnerships, bankruptcy estate, corporate, and individual tax returns. Formerly an Associate Director with Protiviti Inc., Tim joined Gorfine, Schiller & Gardyn in December 2017.

Tim has extensive experience with real estate tax issues including reviewing and analyzing partnership agreements for multi-tiered partnership entities as it relates to special allocation of the partnership’s profit of loss, including the computation of the distributable income to various partners, and the distribution of cash flow.

He was responsible for the tax planning of a major Washington, D.C. area developer whose interests included more than 50 commercial real estate partnerships and S Corporations. Tim maximized the return to the partners, shareholders and creditors as well as the proper allocation of all income (cash and phantom) associated with the resolution and liquidation of all partnership entities.

Recently, Tim was responsible for the tax planning and compliance related to representation of the trustee for a large Washington, D.C. area developer which defrauded homeowners.

Tim shared responsibility for the ongoing planning and compliance for one of Baltimore’s most prominent developers. After the bankruptcy of the general partner, Tim helped continue the operations of the partnership while the new general partner rebuilt the enterprise which was previously valued in excess of $90 million. He worked with partners to achieve the divestiture of certain partners through like-kind exchanges and redemptions.

Throughout his career, Tim has provided extensive service to Bankruptcy Trustees throughout state of Maryland.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Salisbury University in 1991 and his Master of Science degree in Taxation from American University in 2005. He received his CPA certification in 1998.

Tim is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA).
